Thank you for being here. I know it takes effort to subscribe, open, and read these little notes from me. Just know that it’s no small thing to me and it means you are working to prioritize play and gift your children with outside time.
Your kids keep me going and sharing these places makes me feel like I’m contributing to your fulfilling family life and childhoods filled with special nature connections.
A reader requested I start a series with my Breakfast + Park post on Instagram. I’ve been sharing those as Play Trips right here in my newsletter for years, but I’m happy to shine a light on them via Instagram. So stay tuned for more Weekend Play Trips.
I first shared Grijalva Community Park in Orange back in March 2009. It got a really full update with tons more photos — including the bridge with the slide! We grabbed breakfast after our scouting visit at nearby Taco Mesa on Chapman Avenue. If Mexican food isn’t your thing, then 85 Degrees bakery is right next door for pastries and their famous sea salt coffee!
I love it when I go back to posts that readers have helped me create! Kristin became a “volunteer park reporter” for a day and wrote up Mountain View Park for me after the park’s 2016 re-do. Not the best for multiple kids running between multiple play areas to get on the tire swing (treehouse playground) or bench swings (monkey bar playground), but if you are looking for toddler-friendly spots then this one has 4 baby swings and smaller equipment on its own separate playground area. Always make sure you read the “be aware” sections of my posts for important information. This one is may be a good one to visit with friends!
Both these park updates this week happen to have shade covers! So I made sure I added them to my Parks with Shade Covers list post.
Tiny Hike Teaser: We watched this Great Blue Heron hunt for a good 20 minutes! You never know what you will see on this week’s tiny hike!
